Excited to share: we’ve got a Support Group starting this month 🥳 To support you in integrating non-diet work/intuitive eating into your life while combating the diet culture messages that the start of the year inevitably brings.

It can be really hard work to do this non-diet work on your own. Especially now, amidst the TONS of ads and conversations on how you need to “change” your habits or “fix” your health to start the new year off “right” 😳

The diet industry is in full force this time of year - and we know that not only does food restriction and dieting not work long-term...but it also causes us a lot of harm 🤦‍♀️

Is anybody else tired of these messages yet?😅

I know these messages aren’t easy to hear and they aren’t going away anytime soon (although I wish they would!), which is why Jasmine and I are offering a new support group this month to discuss intuitive eating and work to combat the diet culture messages that the start of the year inevitably brings.

The Unapologetic Eating Non-Diet Processing & Support Club is now enrolling! The group begins February 6th & runs for 5 weeks. Link in bio to learn more & register 🤗

The group includes 5 weeks of group meetings for you to get support, feel less alone, and continue to integrate non-diet and intuitive eating principles into your life.

We are limiting it to 10 people, to create a supportive space to discuss intuitive eating & work to combat the diet culture messages that January brings.

What’s included:
✔️5 live group calls - a combo of learning, processing, coaching, & support💻
✔️A copy of Unapologetic Eating sent to you + a personalized, signed bookplate from me 📚
✔️The encouragement of a community of like-minded people on the same path 🙋‍♀️🙋
✔️Practical tips & tools to implement intuitive eating in your own life🥯🥬🧀🍓

If you are looking to connect with others, build resilience against diet messages, understand more deeply the principles of intuitive eating and how to integrate them into your life, and gain encouragement from like-minded people - we’d love to have you join us🥰

If you’re struggling right now, you are not alone ❤️ Diet culture is out in FULL FORCE right now as we enter 'National Dieting Month' (aka January) 🤦🏻‍♀️

So many ads and messages telling you that you need to compensate for your holiday eating and celebrating. That you need to start of the year on the "right foot". The whole "new year, new you" BS 🙄

You may be tempted to diet. To try to lose weight. The messages come from so many places.

So this is a reminder: there is NOTHING wrong with you. The problem is not you, or your body. The problem is our culture.

A culture built (purposefully) with systems in place to make certain people - women, BIPOC people & fat people in particular - to feel like there is something wrong with them, something they need to fix.

Our society’s rampant fatphobia - and worship of thin, white, young, conventionally attractive people and bodies - came from this.

The question is not “What is wrong with you?” 👉 it’s “What is wrong with our culture?”

No matter who you are or where you are in your journey, remember that there is another way.

One where you can think outside of the arbitrary boxes that society has put us in.

One where you can question & examine where your beliefs, thoughts & feelings really come from & separate who YOU are and what YOU want from what society has told you that you (and your body) “should” be.

You don't have to shrink your body in order to be healthier or happier or worthy. You are worthy and valuable and loveable in THIS body - in any body. This worth is inherent.

You can pursue and achieve health in the body that you are in (if this is something that you want to do). And it's possible to feel better in your body without changing a thing about yourself 🥰

And if you’re looking for more support, my team and I are running a 5-week Non-Diet New Year Support Group & Book Club starting February 6th - click the link in bio to learn more ❤️

Reminder: Your body does NOT magically reset every night at midnight 🤪 If you find yourself judging a day as “good” or “bad” based on your eating - and vow to do “better” tomorrow - keep reading…because this type of thinking is usually really unhelpful when it comes improving your relationship to food and your body.

👉When you judge a day (or meal) as "good" or "bad" based upon some arbitrary standard or food/diet rules, this type of binary thinking sets you up for only 1 of 2 options: success or failure. This leaves no space for you to engage, reflect, learn or grow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Binary thinking is very common in our culture. It can make us feel safe, like we have control. Diet culture plays into that: “If you do this, everything will be ok”. But life does not exist in the binary. And when we talk about food & bodies, reducing ourselves to such inflexible, black/white terms limits us from growth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Binary thinking also causes disconnect between body & mind. Instead of listening to your body, you end up reacting to the labels & judgments that are placed on the food (or you). It also causes guilt, shame & can lead to self-punishing behaviors (often using food).

Note: I’m talking about food here, but binary thinking is really unhelpful/harmful when it comes to basically everything! Work, relationships, etc etc. So what I’m saying here can apply to all of this too 🤗
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
WHST TO TRY INSTEAD:
When you can work to suspend judgment & sit with any uneasiness that arises, a third element emerges: the grey area ⬜️◻️◽️ I know I know, everyone hates the grey area😝 But it is here where our most meaningful learning & growing & changing occurs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Living in the grey presents each life/eating experience as an opportunity to learn & experiment, rather than to pass or fail. The grey area allows for nuance & flexibility. You can then make decisions based on yourself, instead of your external environment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉In terms of nutrition the grey area means zooming out & looking at the big picture.

Take a look at your overall eating patterns:
👉Are there places where you would like to add in more nourishing foods?….
